 Italian Motorcycle Market Rebounded in July.
According to the latest statistics released by the Italian Two-wheeled Vehicle Association (on the motorcycles with the displacement of more than 500CC), there appeared the first upturn in the Italian motorcycle market in July, 2008 since this year began. The registered number of new motorcycles was 57,300, increasing by 6.1% compared with the same period of last year. However, the continuous decline of the registered number in the first six months made the aggregate registered number of the first seven months still in decline. From January to July, the total registered number of new motorcycles in Italy was 305,500, decreasing by 7% compared with the same period of last year.
In terms of variety, the registered number of scooters was 197,200, decreasing by 5.2% compared with the same period of last year, and that of other motorcycles was 108,300, decreasing by 10.2%.
In terms of displacement, the registered number of large displacement motorcycles of 1000CC and above kept on growing, and the growth rate was 3.9%; small displacement motorcycles of less than 125CC also increased by 4.4%. Motorcycles with other displacements all declined to some extent, among which the motorcycles with the displacements between 501CC and 600CC had larger reduction rates, the registered number decreasing by 32.3% compared with the same period of last year.
In terms of models, the top 5 best-selling brands were all scooters with the displacements of less than 500CC, T MAX 500 OF YAMAHA, SH150, SH300 and SH125 of Honda Italia, and BEVERLY250 of PIAGGIO respectively. |
